The other day on my Facebook page, I asked my friends to describe to me what qualities they believed a strong woman possessed. I received the responses that I thought I might:
“Confidence”
“Strong critical thinking skills”
“Smiling through the pain”
I even received a compliment on my volleyball skills (though that wasn’t what I was looking for!).
Then as I sat at my desk on Wednesday I received a notification of a post to my page from a gal I play volleyball with. She shared with me a poem that had been read at her grandmother’s funeral earlier in the week. It is titled “A Strong Woman vs. A Woman of Strength.” Within 2 hours there were more “likes” and comments on that poem than on my previous call to help. My Aunt Carmen stated exactly what I was thinking, “This is very good. It pretty much sums up what you are looking for.”
And she is right, so today I share with you this poem. The Voice of the Woman is a strong one. A woman of strength certainly has that strong voice needed to help pass on her legacy and take care of her family.
Enjoy.
